Inside: 25 of our favorite preschool learning themes, some with links to activities, that can be done in the classroom or homeschool. I’ve shared them chronologically, but you can move them around to fit the interests of your children.
Are you like I was, searching for themes that will work with preschoolers? Do you have stacks of notes with ideas but not sure where to go next? Take a deep breath. I am hoping to help you with this collection of 25 favorite preschool learning themes.
I have searched for the “perfect” preschool themes. I’ve redone our curriculum so many times during the 15+ years I’ve taught 3 year olds. Remember I had the same issue with our preschool classroom schedule? It’s HARD. But, dear teachers, I bet you know this. That’s why you are searching.
The collection of preschool curriculum ideas I’m about to share has been used for several years now, and we love it. You could move some of the themes around a bit and it will still be effective. Or, if there’s a particular theme you really want to use that’s not in this list, just substitute one of my suggestions for that one.
Bonus! I’ve created a printable list of themes as a handy resource. Scroll down towards the bottom of this post to find it!
Note: We usually do a different theme every week or every 2 weeks. However, if we see that the preschoolers are really into a particular theme, we will stay with it another week.
Please click on the photo for activities. The themes with no pictures means I have not created posts about them yet. (But, believe me, I’m working on it!)

In September we start with just getting to know the classroom and our routine. We then move into “All About Me”. This is why you only see one theme this month.

Leaves and Pinecones
Ice and Snow
St. Patrick’s Day
Caterpillars and Butterflies
What about themes for toddlers?
For those of you wondering about our toddler themes, we pretty much use these same themes but make sure they are age appropriate.
