An easy patriotic craft for kids is creating red, white and blue discovery bottles! We love using recycled water bottles, such as when we made our rainbow name bottles. Kids love measuring and pouring the ingredients into the bottles and then admiring the colors once they are finished.
If you are looking for a quick and simple patriotic activity you can do with your children, gather an empty water bottle and some confetti and get to work!

What you will need:
- Empty water bottles
- Blue food coloring
- Patriotic star confetti pieces
- Thin red, white, and/or blue ribbon
- Silver glitter (optional)
Fill a pitcher with water and add some blue food coloring.
Pour the colored water into the bottle. (We found using a funnel made it easier.)
Our preschoolers used their fine motor skills and simply pinched the confetti from the bowl and dropped it into the bottle. We also added some silver glitter for a little more sparkle.
A tray underneath is helpful to catch any spills.
Check to see how they look in the light, and add more confetti if desired.
You can secure the lids by adding a drop of hot glue to the lip of the bottle before screwing the cap on.
Tie a patriotic ribbon to the neck and they are ready to go!
