We love music and movement with our toddlers! We all know how energetic these little people can be.
Parachute games for toddlers channels that energy in creative ways. They are focusing on the rhythm, they are learning how to move with a group of children, and they are learning how to listen.
Have you noticed as soon as you take out the parachute you are surrounded by happy children? Yep, so have we!

Using Parachute Activities with Toddlers
First, let’s look at all the benefits parachute activities have:
- Builds social interaction
- Develops a sense of rhythm
- Builds language skills
- Encourages taking turns
- Strengthens the upper torso
Introducing the parachute:
The first time we introduce the parachute to our toddlers, we show them how to hold onto the handles.
We then work on moving the parachute up and down.
This takes great concentration as they reach up high and then down low, all the while hanging onto the handles.
And then, some go under the parachute while the others continue to move it up and down.
The parachute is also fun to ride on. Especially when one of the toddlers helps a teacher pull it.
The parachute can also act as a tent. Toddlers love to hide inside it!
And don’t forget to turn it into a tunnel. Our toddlers drove through our parachute tunnel with their Plasma Cars.
But there are also some parachute games that are not only fun, but build skills, too!
