If you are like many busy parents, teachers, and caregivers, when you are probably searching for Christmas ideas for little kids that are fun and simple. We’ve found that activities that are easier to set up are more open-ended, allowing the children to add their own touches. Easy ideas also keep the adults from having to spend long lengths of time shopping and prepping. Time is always valuable, but this is even more so during the holiday season. I thought I’d share 7 easy Christmas ideas for little kids.

I’m always looking for more, so please share your favorites in the comments section!

7 Easy Christmas Ideas for Little Kids

Snowman Sensory Bin

Snowman Sensory Play

Pom poms are always loved by little kids, so we made sure to add them to our snowman sensory bin. We also added small boxes for filling and finding the matching tops. Tongs were added to transfer materials and work those fine motor muscles.

Handmade Fillable Ornaments

handmade fillable ornaments for kids

Handmade fillable ornaments are a fun way to capture memories for kids. Simply fill a clear ornament with your choice of small items and add something personal on the ornament, such as a handprint.

Spin Art Ornaments

toddler Christmas art

Each year we wonder if these children will love spin art as much as last year’s class did. The answer is always YES. They love it because it’s sort of magical. These spin art ornaments are so simple that even our toddlers could handle each step with little help.

Yarn Wrapped Trees

easy christmas activity for preschoolers

We have a lot going on in our preschool during December, so we wanted an easy Christmas activity at our fine motor table for our preschoolers. These yarn-wrapped trees were a fun addition to our fine motor table.

Simple Snowflakes

These simple snowflake ornaments are perfect for kids to make. The jumbo popsicle sticks are easier for preschoolers to hold. Brushing the glue and sprinkling the beads add some extra fine motor to this activity, too.

Gingerbread Ornaments

Easy Gingerbread Ornaments for Preschoolers

The first week of each December we have a gingerbread unit. Making a gingerbread ornament to wrap and put under the tree is the highlight!

Gingerbread Suncatcher Ornaments

Gingerbread Suncatcher Ornament for Kids - Add some fine motor fun! Teaching 2 and 3 Year Olds

These gingerbread sun catcher ornaments are a fun fine motor activity that look beautiful in the window or on the Christmas tree.
