Printable Airplane Circle Time Props
If you’ve been following me here or on my YouTube channel, you know how much I love using props during circle time.
After a few frustrating years of trying to create circle times that kept my young students engaged, I finally realized that if I included props while reading and singing the children were much more attentive.

One of my favorite ways of using props is attaching them to jumbo craft sticks.
They are easy to hold and you can make extras for the children, too.
Over the years I’ve discovered that if the children can hold a prop during circle time, they feel more connected.
What you will need:
- Popsicle sticks or Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Laminator
- Scotch tape
- Printable airplane props (scroll down to find the link)
I suggest either printing these on heavy paper or laminating them for extra durability.
Preparation:
Cut out the desired amount of airplanes.
Gather your popsicle or jumbo craft sticks. After cutting the airplanes out, tape them to the top of a popsicle stick.
Make enough so that each child has an airplane to hold, and have extras for yourself. For example, if the song is about five airplanes, you will want to have five airplane sticks.
Songs
Invite the children to hold their airplane sticks while you sing favorite airplane songs.
Here are some suggestions:
- Let’s Be Planes
- The Airplane Song
- I’m a Little Airplane
- Five Little Airplanes by Patty Shakula
Books
Before reading a favorite airplane book, invite the children to hold up their airplane sticks.
When an airplane is shown in the book, your toddlers and preschoolers can hold up their airplane sticks.
