Inside: Here’s my collection of favorite toddler and preschool songs for winter. They are fun to sing during circle time, while in the middle of a transition, or any time you just want to get those winter wiggles out!
Before each season or holiday begins, I like to have an assortment of related songs ready to go.
I go through my various collections, note which songs and finger plays will work best, and put them on a playlist.
When I go to fill out my weekly planner, I can easily fill in the music section with the songs I’ve selected.
This post shares our favorite toddler and preschool winter songs for winter, along with favorite finger plays, too!

Music is an important part of our day because not only is it fun, but it also develops important skills.
Musical experiences in childhood can build language and reading skills as they begin to learn the sounds and meaning of words. (Source: brighthorizons.com) While dancing, children are strengthening their motor skills. While doing finger plays, they are practicing skills such as simple counting or color recognition.
All of this has been taking into consideration when selecting songs for our winter theme.
