Easy Kids Art with Freezer Bags

No paintbrushes are required for this easy kids art activity with freezer bags! In fact, this art activity is so easy that you only need a few materials. I set this up for several preschoolers to do at once, but it’s a good independent art activity, too. Painting with freezer bags is also a fun sensory idea as well. The feeling of the paint and marbles through the bag is a delight, and is especially appreciated by those who don’t like to get paint on their hands.

This activity is part of a painting challenge along with 34 other bloggers. To see the complete list, scroll to the bottom of this post!

What you will need for this art activity:

  • Gallon-size freezer bags
  • Tempera paint
  • Marbles
  • Paper

Preparing this activity:

Make sure paper fits inside the plastic bag. If not, trim it to fit. You can even cut the paper into a desired shape. Since we did this before Easter, I cut ours into ovals. Place paint into containers and add marbles and spoons.

Enjoying this activity:

Depending on the skill level of the children who are participating, you can have them spoon the marbles in the bag, or you can spoon them in ahead of time. Once the painted marbles are inside the bag, zip it closed.

 Hands on!

Invite your children to press and move the marbles from outside the bag. This will leave paint trails on the paper as the marbles move.

When finished:

Remove from bag and let dry. I backed ours with colored paper to display.

I love the way they turned out and look forward to trying this using other shapes!

Great way to be mess-free (although sometimes it’s okay for kids to be messy, haha)! I never would have thought to use marbles inside the bag–great idea. Another great way to declutter and be mess-free: Keepy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbbMTBo_G_U&feature=player_embedded
