We love birthdays in preschool! I devote a bulletin board for the 3 year old class and a bulletin board for the 2 year old class just for birthdays.

The first week of school, the preschoolers decorate their birthday crown. These go on the bulletin board and are displayed there until we celebrate their birthdays. This year I wanted to add something to our birthday bulletin boards, so I found some wooden crowns from a local craft store.

Discount School Supply had sent me a box of art supplies to review, and I decided their new Washable Confetti Paint and Stubby Chubby Paint Brushes would work perfectly with this project.

We’ve owned many different types and brands of paintbrushes, but what I loved about the Stubby Chubby Brushes were their shorter handles. They were much easier for our younger preschoolers to manipulate in their smaller palms.

For those of you who have been reading my blog awhile, you might recall that I love glitter, beads, and confetti. Using it dry, however, can be quite messy. And while I try not to shy away from an activity due to mess, I have to admit I loved having the confetti already mixed in this paint.

I had one of my preschoolers decorate each crown. The paint is pretty thick and applies smoothly. A little goes a long way!

The confetti adheres and does not flake off once it’s dry.

You also might recall that I don’t usually make our preschoolers wear smocks during art. I’ve found they are more willing to approach the art table if they can come and go, especially the twos. So, it’s important to me that the art products we use are washable.

The Colorations Confetti Paint definitely lived up to its “washable” title. Yay!!!

I added some extra bling to the crowns and some text, and they were ready to be hung.

Once the children paint their crowns, they are placed on the bulletin boards.

As each child’s birthday arrives, we remove the crown to be worn and taken home. This is how we know who’s already had a birthday and who is still waiting. It is a great visual!

This is adorable. What a sweet idea.

Thanks for joining in The Sunday Showcase. I’ve pinned to our board.

I agree. This is indeed a great idea. I have a preschool teacher friend and I would really recommend this post to her. For sure she will get lots of ideas here.
