One of our favorite prewriting activities involves teaching preschoolers how to move their writing tools from left to right.
These fish cards not only work on left-to-right progression, but they also build fine motor skills as they follow the dashed lines.
How to Use These Prewriting Printable Cards
- Grab the free fish prewriting printables. The link to the pdf download is towards the bottom of this post.
- Each page has 3 cards.
- Cut on the lines to separate the cards.
If you choose to reuse them, laminate the cards and use with a dry erase marker.
Where to Use These Prewriting Cards
In our classroom, we like to use these at our writing center.
However, they can also be used as a table activity during centers time, or as a teacher directed activity during small groups.
At home, these would work well as a quiet activity at the kitchen table.
