Easy Toddler Fall Art Using Gourds
What you will need:
Before you start this activity:
Invite your toddlers to explore the gourds at circle time or at the science table. Help them describe what they are feeling, such as “smooth” and “bumpy”. Older toddlers might also be able to verbally compare how they look. Is one bigger than the other? What colors are they?
Pour a bit of yellow and a bit of red into a tray. This is going to also be a lesson in color mixing!
Place a gourd in the tray of paint.
Explain that they are going to take the gourd out of the tray of paint and then stamp it onto paper.
It won’t take them long to get the momentum going. Toddlers love to use big movements, and this activity encourages it.
