If you have toddlers, you know that a lot of those Easter crafts are over their heads. You are trying to direct them to add the bunny ears in a specific place, sprinkle the glitter over there … well, you know what I’m saying. Toddlers want to simply have fun exploring whatever materials you are providing them. This is why I LOVE this easy toddler art with Easter eggs!

So, grab those plastic eggs for some toddler approved Easter egg art. This is such a fun activity!

Toddlers love to stamp anything in paint. Don’t toss those plastic Easter eggs because they are fun for many activities, such as when we explored them with light. Now it’s time for paint.

What you will need:

  • Plastic Easter eggs
  • Tempera paint, your choice of colors
  • Paper

Getting started:

Pour paint into a container (just enough to cover the tips of the opened egg). Open the plastic egg so you only use one half. Place the opened end in the paint (so it makes a circle).

Start stamping!

After dipping the egg into the paint, stamp onto paper.

Once they start stamping, they just keep going!

Our toddlers called out “stamp, stamp, stamp” while making the stamping movements.

Over and over again.

So toddler-ish, right? Big movements, lots of movements.

And then, just like that, they will walk away.

Happy.

Happy because they got to do it by themselves, happy that there didn’t need to be any specific instructions.

Open-ended art.

What messy fun! Who needs the egg when you have fingers? I do like the nice circles the eggs made though!
