Dinosaur Color Recognition Printable for Circle Time

What you will need:

Dinosaur Color Recognition Printable (Available Towards the Bottom of this Page)

Tape

Craft Sticks

Preparing this activity:

We suggest copying these on heavy paper for more durability, or laminate them.

Cut out each dinosaur and egg.

Tape the dinosaurs and eggs to the ends of craft sticks.

Using this for a Circle Time Activity

First, read a favorite dinosaur book.

Then, have the children help you name the color of each dinosaur stick puppet.

Place them on your lap and as you hold each dinosaur, have them tell you the color.

Do this until all the dinosaurs have been labeled a color.

Now, pass out the eggs so that each child gets one. (If there are more children than eggs, you can make extra copies for more egg stick puppets.)

Tell the children that as you hold up a dinosaur, whoever has the matching colored egg can hold it in the air.

Example:

Hold up the brown dinosaur.

Ask, “What color is this dinosaur?”

Then, “Who has a brown egg? Hold it in the air.”

Do this for each colored dinosaur.
