Looking for a fun and easy reindeer activity that works on math and counting skills?
I created a set of count and clip cards that can be done at home, in the classroom, or placed in a busy bag while you are traveling!
All you need is a copy of the free printable and some clothespins.
Easy to set up, fun to play!
I decided to create some preschool count and clip cards that are a great companion to a December theme.
These count and clip cards invite preschoolers to count how many reindeer are on each card and find the correct number.
A fun way to work on rote counting and one-to-one correspondence!
There is also some fine motor going on as the fingers pinch the the clothespins open.
Count and Clip Printable Reindeer Activity
What you will need:
- Reindeer count and clip printable cards (scroll down to find link to free download)
- One clothespin per card
Skills built:
- Number recognition
- Counting
- 1:1 correspondence
- Fine motor
Directions:
For best results copy the activity onto heavy paper (card stock) or laminate. This gives it more durability, especially if you are using it in a classroom setting.
Cut the cards apart and provide clothespins.
How to play:
Place cards and clothespins on a tray or placemat.
Invite your preschoolers to count the reindeer on each card and clip the clothespin to the correct number.
Alternative idea:
If you don’t have clothespins, you can use a small object such as a pom pom or button.
After counting how many reindeer are on the card, find the correct number and cover it with the small object.
