Assembling this activity:
After downloading the pdf, make copies and cut apart each bear.
Independent play:
Place the bears in a container. Put the container and the 4 caves on a table.
As the child pulls out a bear, they will identify the color and place it in the matching cave.
Do this until all the bears are in their caves.
Circle time or small groups:
Gather your children and place the 4 caves on the floor or table, so all the children can easily see them.
Hand each child a bear and, one by one, invite them to place their bears in the matching colored caves.
Adding counting to this activity:
Invite your children to count the bears in each cave.
To add a challenge, provide a different amount of bears for each cave. Then ask the children which cave has the most bears? Which one has the least?
Modifications:
Rather than using the paper bears from the printable, use counting bears that are the same colors as the caves.
