Hello! I’m Sheryl Cooper, founder and writer at Teaching 2 and 3 Year Olds.
I’m a wife, mother, teacher and author.
I love to be outdoors with our 3 dogs, walking our favorite trails, taking photos along the way. You can also find me relaxing while listening to jazz music, drinking an Americano, and trying new things.
I’ve been teaching toddlers and preschoolers for over 19 years in a small private program. I’ve wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember, but didn’t actually start my journey until after my own children were born. I was hired as an “interim” teacher for someone going on maternity leave but she decided to stay home with her new baby. Here I still am and love my preschool and my colleagues.
When I first started on the teaching journey, I felt a bit lost. I was thankful to meet some wonderful ECE teachers on the internet who answered all of my questions. I can never thank them enough for all their guidance! And so, I wanted to pass that on by providing a website for anyone who is interested in the education of toddlers and preschoolers. A wise mentor of mine once said, “Teach what you know, and continue to grow.” I love that quote!
I love my job and learn more each year. I’ve read many Reggio Emilia books, have visited other schools that are Reggio-influenced, and love to incorporate it into our program. I also love Maria Montessori’s practical life skills and Bev Bos’ love for play. I am passionate about what I do and love to share this with others!
Our activities are all done in my toddler and preschool classroom. Come take a peek at my classroom!
New here? You can get a good feel for what this website is all about by reviewing my Survival Guide for Preschool Teachers.
