A New Birthday Tradition!

I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time, but this year it was time to give it a try.
Making our own birthday treats.

In the past we’ve had birthday child’s family send birthday treats to school. This year we have multiple food allergies in both our 2’s and 3’s classes. I decided to finally make the change.

We did our usual – the felt cake, the birthday chair. We took the birthday crown off the wall, sang Happy Birthday,
and enjoyed Cinnamon Tortillas.

That we made that morning!

Both classes had so much fun sprinkling the cinnamon sugar on the tortillas that I had cut into triangles.

The 3’s all agreed that it was fun to make treats for the birthday girl’s celebration. They were proud to put a bit extra on each chip, exclaiming, “This one is mine for her!”

We put them in the 350 degree oven for 10 minutes and enjoyed them with our snack.

While they were baking, several of the 3’s decided they wanted to draw pictures for the birthday girl.

Her cubby was overflowing.

I am so happy we have added a new tradition of making the birthday treats. So heartfelt, so meaningful!

This is such a great idea. We do a lot of baking in our class but have never done it for birthdays, we may have to start! In our school they are allowed to bring something for birthdays if they choose but not all do so this would be a great way to celebrate everyone’s birthday with a special treat.
